A bit of silliness from a Facebook posting of this morning . . . a little 'teaser' of four of the new works that will be offered in my upcoming small works offering beginning on May 5. As noted in an earlier posting, I will only be offering these works, all at reduced prices, on my Facebook Art page (The Graphite Art of Terry Miller) which is linked in the listing on the right of this page. You don't have to have a Facebook presence to be able to access that page as it is a public page, so no fear of getting entangled in all that Facebook stuff if you choose not to. But if you would like to try for one of the dozen or so works that I will offer, one a day beginning on the 5th, you will have to do that through that Facebook page. I will announce the time frame during which I will be posting the works each day for the next day so all will have an equal opportunity to try for one. These will be offered matted and ready to be framed by the person who contacts me first for purchase through Pay Pal or with a personal check. Shipping to a continental US address via US Priority Mail will be included in the listed price. I'll be making another reminder announcement in early May on this blog page but after that, you will have to go to my Facebook page to see the images of the works being posted.

Opening on April 27th and running through the middle of June, this year's Modern Marine Masters exhibition and sale at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, will include two of my recent works. Even though the show does not 'officially' open till this weekend, the gallery has posted all the works on their web site already. Click on the link above to see some fine works by many of the gallery's stable of artists.

A short time ago, the UPS guy dropped off my two copies of the Spring edition of Drawing Magazine within which are the announcements of the winners for this year's Shades of Gray competition. I am very pleased that the judges spotlighted my work, Grandmother's Chair, with one of 10 Honorable Mentions. All the works selected are quite wonderful and I feel fortunate that my work caught the eye of the judges out of the numerous submissions. The magazine should be available in shops shortly if not at this time.

TBT
Having a Facebook presence can be both fun and infuriating at times. One of the more 'fun' things that I have recently taken up is posting photos and remembrances on Thursdays for something called Throw Back Thursdays on Facebook. I don't know who or how and when it all started, but I've been digging through my photo archives for the last month or so, posting interesting shots from the past, often triggering most wonderful memories of places and events and situations. Here you see my posting for today's TBT, an image shot in northern Tanzania at the Olduvai Gorge sometime in the late 90s, perhaps 98? of a trip with some fellow artists. I'm enjoying a break from the dusty drive at the Gorge and doing a bit of sketching at the edge of the deep gorge where the Leakeys, Louis and Mary, made major discoveries in the 1950s about early man in the Olduvai Gorge area.
Finding this image this morning has triggered a lot of fond recollection and actually has started me on an exploration of African reference as I sift through photos, slides and notes in sketchbooks, laying out ideas for possible works for the summer's studio time. I have not really tackled Africa as a subject for sometime, other than something now and again and several ideas for a couple of the upcoming smaller works that I will be offering at the beginning of May in my special smaller work offering on Facebook. It's great to recall exciting experiences in Africa from 15 or more years ago and I expect to be sketching out several ideas later this afternoon for larger works to be done as the summer months unfold. You will, no doubt, see them posted here as they come off the board.

Hard to believe but . . . nine years ago this blog page began. Twelve hundred plus postings later and still going strong. I was much younger when this all began, but now I'm wiser!
Thanks to every single person who has looked in over the years and maybe taken something away from my gibber jabber that they did not know before. It's been fun - and it will remain fun as I begin my tenth year. Lots more to come!

To celebrate the upcoming Cinco de Mayo, I will once again, be offering a group of smaller scale works, matted and ready to be framed by a purchaser, beginning on Monday, May 5th. This is an advance alert to those who might be interested in trying to pick up one of the ten or dozen works that I will offer as I did in early December. This time though, I will only be offering and showing them on my Facebook page so if you would wish to try for one, you will have to check them out on my Facebook art page, which is linked to the right here. You do NOT have to be a member of Facebook to access my art page as it is a public page, so no need to have a Facebook account or presence on that site. I will make another announcement just prior to starting this next round of offerings as a reminder toward the end of this month, but in the meantime, if you are interested in possibly trying to purchase one of the upcoming offered works, at a reduced and special price, then check out my art page through the link to the right and mark your calendar for Cinco de Mayo as I will offer a work each day from the 5th onward, for ten or eleven or twelve days.
Last time I did this, the works went rather quickly, within the first five minutes after being posted, so if you want one, you will have to act fast. I will be accepting payment through Pay Pal or with a personal check and the works will be offered at a very special price that will include the cost of Priority Mail shipping to a continental US address.
