Completed a half hour ago, the image is slightly shy of 17" x 13". I have my eye on this one for something special coming up. I've noted some question as to the species of bird, it's an Anhinga, sourced during my time on the west coast of Florida just a bit over a year ago. So far this year, I've dug into that great reference material for each of the four completed works since the beginning of the year. I guess the time lag since the trip has been good to rekindle the inspiration I felt while studying all these birds last January. Sometimes a little distance from the urgency of the moment can give you a slightly different perspective and open one up to avenues of design and composition not thought of at the time.

The complications of life sometime insinuate themselves to such an extent, they take center stage and relegate all else to the wings. Such has occurred over these last weeks and I have been away from the studio and the drawing board for far too long. This work, which was started back in mid January, finally saw the last pencil strokes this afternoon which brought it to its conclusion. The work is just over 7" x 11". I hope a more routine work schedule will, once again, allow me to focus on those aspects of life that bring me the most joy . . . work, studio time and releasing the creative juices that seem to have, of late, been difficult to grasp.
