This new, small work (image size 5" square) was commissioned as a wedding gift. I hope the happy couple will enjoy it.

I'm now digging into work for upcoming fall shows. It's never too early to begin work for October, November and December events/exhibits/gallery shows. I mean, it's almost August!

July is scortching away here outside of DC, we're all feeling like Salvador's melting clocks about now. Anyway, taking a break from the drawing board for a bit but new work will be starting again soon.

Word arrived, yesterday, of the safe arrival of the recent commission works. I am pleased to say the client was very happy with both works. It was fun working on them for her. It was a challenge, working on an animal with such specific coloration and characteristics, but from the first when I went to study her and get photographic reference, I knew it would be a fun process.

This afternoon's work . . . concentrating on the shadows.

The commission works are on their way and as soon as I have confirmation that they have been received by the client, I'll post them. Meanwhile, I've begun work on a small piece for a fall show, proof that I am actually at work! Too hot outside to be doing much else.

No, I've not run off to Tahiti like Gauguin, though the thought has entered my mind a number of times. And no, I've not gone into hiding either. I am at work on several commission pieces at the moment and will post when completed and accepted by the client. I don't generally accept commission work, but in this case, the subject matter was too good to pass by. I hope the two works will turn out to the client's liking. Meanwhile, Happy Birthday, America!
