Another image from the Wisconsin trip last weekend. We, in our rental car, had a good laugh! No further comment necessary, I think!

The start of something . . . big!

Last weekend, I was in Wisconsin for the opening of this year's Birds in Art exhibition at the Woodson Art Museum.

A nice sunset along the placid Wisconsin River in central Wisconsin.

After the opening weekend festivities at the museum, I, an artist friend and a photographer friend of ours, headed to the International Crane Foundation near Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The Foundation has a captive breeding program housing over 100 cranes. They also have a number of cranes on public view, including these beautiful Hooded Cranes.

A graceful pair of Whoopers were the spotlight birds and we spent a good hour or more, enjoying their movements, almost like ballet dancers!

The Sandhill Crane, with its brilliant slash of red, posed nicely for our cameras. The International Crane Foundation is well worth an afternoon, if in the central Wisconsin area!

Intervening things took precident this week and as a result, it took a bit longer to complete this work than I had expected last weekend. In any event, it is done now!

Labor Day weekend and guess who is laboring! Really want to finish this work by the end of the day on Monday, Tuesday afternoon at the latest. Lots of 'stuff' going on, but the kind of stuff that I really like to sink my teeth into in a work . . lots of differing textures. Those of us who work in black and white mediums do often rely upon the textural contrasts and light and shadow to give our works impact, focus and interest. I hope, when it is all said and done, this work will embody those important elements of composition and design!
