Cats on the drawing board have taken a hiatus for a bit. 'Autumn Repose', the latest off the board, is a small, 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" work headed to my Maryland eastern shore gallery next week.

Continuing on what apparently has become a big cat theme for me of late, the latest big cat - 'Cat Nap', another smaller scaled work, 7" x 9".

Been away on a reference gathering trip to western Maryland the last few days. The weather was great with nice blue skies and mild temps, for a change! Heading west from a stop in Hagerstown to gather some material on old bridges, you come to Sideling Hill on Interstate 68. This geological wonder, a cut through a beautifully visable fold of the earth, shows quite perfectly the forces that, in the past, have structured the land.

Further along, I made some stops along the C&O Canal. Here, at Williamsport, is one of the great aqueducts built across the Conocheaghe Creek, that carried the canal barges across side streams.

Further west at Hancock, Maryland, the wide, placid Potomac River gently wound its way east toward Washington DC and beyond.

Cumberland, Maryland held many interesting reference points for works that will be done in preparation for a small group exhibition I will share with artist friends next year, based on Maryland state subject matter. This was my first trip west of my immediate home county and there was much to see and be inspired by. Fall in the mountains must be beautiful and I hope to journey back later this fall to see for myself!

'Keeping Watch' - a 3" x 5" work of some fuzzy little cheetah cubs.

Sunday, August 14, 2005

I seem to be in a cheetah mode right now. Here is another little work, just completed yesterday. I wonder how many more cheetahs I have in me before it will be time to move on to another subject? Oh well, in the meantime, enjoy!

Word in from the Outdoor Channel that they have begun to set up the page for the series, 'Wildlife Art Gallery' with a listing of the programs as they are scheduled so far. Even though my segment has not been edited as yet, it is listed, along with a half dozen others of the one hour programs to be aired this fall. Here is a link to the page - http://outdoorchannel2.com/showinfo/index.cfm?PageName=ShowDesc&ShowID=564&S
